A fundamental mission of the Center is to provide training on ethics and integrity to city officials. Our sessions include an overview of state laws, professional codes of conduct, and a discussion of Best Practices. We speak at conference, seminars, in-house staff development events, and professional certification programs. Since our formation, the Center has conducted 8 training sessions statewide.

July 20, 2016: The Texas Center for Municipal Ethics held its first Ethics & Open Government training Wednesday in El Paso for elected officials and city staff. Six municipalities were represented at the seminar and several municipal affiliations including the Rio Grand Council of Governments participated in the educational experience.

April 17, 2016: The Center hosted the Wonk Breakfast on Ethics & Integrity at City Hall at the International Municipal Lawyers Association (IMLA) conference in Washington, DC.
July 25, 2015: Alan presented Integrity in Public Service: Laws & Codes of Conduct for the Capital Chapter of City Secretaries/Clerks.
June 3, 2015: Alan presented Ethics in Public Service: Laws & Codes of Conduct during a municipal workshop he conducted for the City of Lakeway.
April 10, 2015: Alan presented Ethics in Public Service: Laws & Codes of Conduct to the Certified Public Managers Program and the American Society of Public Administration at the University of Texas for their annual conference.
September 9, 2014: The City of Buda provided basic ethics training for all its elected and appointed officials. This training was presented by Ross Fischer.
